  • Description

The hotel has 23 individually decorated rooms, furnished in a traditional historical style, while several of the spacious suites also have their own private sauna. Outside, guests can explore the large cultural garden with around 1,500 metres of paths winding between flowers, small garden rooms, a chapel and peaceful seating areas.

Breakfast and dinner are served in the hotel restaurant, where local and seasonal ingredients are combined with fresh herbs and produce from the garden. Guests can start the morning with freshly baked bread and local delicacies, while evenings can be enjoyed over carefully prepared multi-course dinners accompanied by selected wines, Haaheim’s own beer or cider from Hardanger. The cosy bar, terraces and garden provide plenty of places to relax after a day outdoors.

For hikers, Haaheim Gaard is particularly well located. The hike to Tysnessåta, the highest mountain on Tysnes at 753 metres, can be started directly from the hotel, with a scenic trail leading through Gjerdastølen and up to panoramic views across the surrounding fjords and mountains. A shorter alternative starts at Myrdal, where around 1,000 stone steps built by Sherpas lead steeply towards the summit. Another excellent nearby hike is Hovlandsnuten (727 m), known for some of the finest views on Tysnes across the Onarheimsfjord towards the mountains of Kvinnherad. With several mountain trails close by, Haaheim Gaard makes an excellent base for a hiking holiday on Tysnes.
